Bicton Glasshouses

The Bicton Glasshouse images were inspired by the dilapidated Victorian greenhouses in the walled garden at Bicton College. This series represent memories of that specific place. The processed negatives from images taken of the glasshouses were buried on location in the soil around the site, their surfaces then surrendered to the physical environment. The process scratched and marked the negatives and microbes in the soil degenerated the gelatin surface of the film. The negatives were then exhumed and printed. The resulting photographs represent a physical manifestation of Bicton with memory etched upon their surface. The final images were made into books Bicton Glasshouses buried and Bicton Glasshouses.
